With Downtown, Los Angeles being vicariously near the epicenter and with me and my family stuck in a building on the fourth floor during a strong earthquake isn’t fun. The building was swaying back and forth with occasional shaking that made it seem like we were going to collapse underneath. I remembered seeing a vague view from my dad’s big office window that the earthquake was actually shaking the dirt off the buildings! My sister was still as stone while I was telling her to get under the table, but she never moved an inch (she even manages to not listen to me during an emergency, haha). Everyone in the store panicked and sprinted down four flights of stairs to safety. After that whole episode everyone went back upstairs very shaken up about the “moderate” earthquake (as the news puts it). That entire time all I could think about was my family and Franco so I’m extremely glad nothing bad happened today.

So I’ve realized that when I upload JPEG pictures on Blogspot it messes with the clarity of the picture (Myspace does the same). Uploading PNG might take a few minutes longer but at least the pictures are now sharp and not blurred like the ones from Riley’s Birthday at my house.

Riley’s Birthday Party yesterday was a success and there was a good turnout. My cousins decided to have his party at English Springs Park in Chino Hills, it had a nice big lake and a lot of shady trees so it wasn’t too hot while we were decorating and unloading. People started showing up at about 1:30PM which is surprisingly early for Filipinos. Since the invitation said 1PM I would have thought Desi’s side would show up 2 hours late but instead my auntie Jean was the latest one. Trays and trays of Filipino food scoured the table in a buffet style arrangement but the only thing I kept going back for was the beef caldereta, it has officially become my new favorite. I’d say about 50-60 people showed up, luckily it was not all at one time. I ate a few times here and there, played water balloon toss with my cousin Abby, chased kids around with a water gun (and vice versa), and helped out with a few clean ups. At the end of the day I helped my cousins carry Riley’s mountain of gifts into their new Odyssey where, unexpectedly, the gifts practically filled up half the van. Lucky, lucky little baby Riley. Yesterday was super fun, I’m glad I had the chance to be a part of helping out my cousins (especially knowing how stressed out Tammy can get). She knows she can always ask me for anything and if she needs me I’ll always be there for her, Desi, and Riley regardless of any situation. Yay! Riley is finally 1 year old now, It won’t be long before he starts walking and learning bad (I mean, informational) words from his ninang :]

Cerritos Mall air conditioning structure isn’t strong enough to cool me down so I’m sitting here sweating bullets. I have a great view of a couple making out in front of a little boy they are sitting with and I feel like vomiting out the Steak Escape I had for lunch earlier. Acceptable public displays of affection to me is only cute as a peck on the lips; definitely not having tongues down each other’s throats in front of your little brother. Not classy at all.
After work me and my sister are sleeping over at my cousin’s house in Mira Loma. That means a couple of things:
1. Fast food for dinner/night snack.
3. Getting ready for tomorrow’s party.
4. Last minute laundry again.
5. Hopefully baking cookies :]

I came home today and decided to wash my car, clean the unholy mess in my trunk out, throw away empty water bottles that have been left in the backseat for decades, pick up loose receipts that are buried underneath the car seats, and change my steering wheel cover from zebra print to leopard print for the 4th time. I feel pretty accomplished with having done that even after babysitting the little monster that resides mostly in Brea (that would be Riley).
Arguing was definitely not in my schedule today, therefore I am going to bed now so that I don’t have to deal with a certain serious attitude that’s currently on the other end of phone line. Goodnight.

Here’s a list of things of what’s on my mind.
1. I desperately need to shower but my babysitting helper (whom I shall call my sister) has fallen asleep along with the baby so therefore I have to watch them both. Go figure.
2. The Paramore Concert is already next Wednesday and I can’t emphasize enough how excited I am to see them again. The last time I’ve been to their concert was at the Jimmy Kimmel Show in April. Since I usually go to the Pomona Fair every year, I’ve never had the chance to go to the OC Fair so this will be my first time there. Yay food!
3. The ASD/AMD Jewelry show in Vegas is in a few weeks and my dad’s employees are deciding to back out from going. Most of the guys are spewing out sorry excuses for not having to go and most of them have newborn (or still inborn) babies to care for.
4. I’m craving sushi. Sashimi salad, baked salmon roll, Unagi, Tempura, and Tempura Ice-Cream. Thank goodness for the Japanese.
5. Today I am planning on going to Party City to buy a helium tank and balloons for Riley’s Birthday party on Sunday. Now if my helper would just wake up so I can get ready…

Riley’s 1st official birthday is this Sunday, July 27th and we’re celebrating it on mostly Desi’s side of the family at a park in Chino Hills. Just exactly a year ago I was holding him as if he was the most fragile thing I’ve ever held. I remember feeling extremely happy that we finally had a new addition to the family and he came from one of the most important people in my life, my cousin Tammy. We’ve come a pretty long way in terms of Riley’s progressive growth and physical changes (in other words, he’s the most adorable baby in the universe). As corny as this sounds, he’s what I call a blessing in my life; he has never failed to put a smile on my face every time I see him.
Speaking of Riley’s upcoming birthday, I’ve decided to call on my friend Mark (who I hear is a great chef, not to mention a former student of a Professional Culinary Arts Class) to do me a huge favor and make sports themed cupcakes for Riley’s big day. I can’t wait to see how they turn out because I’ve seen some of his work and they look remarkable (ok, I admit that was pretty corny). Special Thanks to Chef Mark! Be sure to bring some business cards in case people at the party fall in love with your cupcakes, which is obviously inevitable.

Sneeze, Sneeze, Sneeze followed by a couple of “Bless you’s” from the employees. Two minutes later I sneeze about 5 times in a row, everyone seems to have given up saying that phrase. My allergies were so out of control today that nothing I did seem to make it better. The Sudafed didn’t work, blowing my nose didn’t work, drinking tea didn’t work, working didn’t even work. My last resort was to fall asleep on the floor of my dad’s former office where the floors were filthy and were probably a contribution to my allergic seizures (okay, it wasn’t as bad as a seizure, but that’s what it felt like to me). Four hours of sleep seem to help my body recuperate since I was so out of energy from sneezing so much. After “work” I quickly headed to 24 hour fitness with my sister to work out for about an hour since it’s proven to prevent allergies (and partially because I pigged out with no shame yesterday). Working out definitely worked for me so catch me at the 24 hour fitness in Puente Hills almost every night this week!
So, I’ve decided to rename my blog because I think it’s more suitable for my style of writing. My posts are obviously not “This Instant” type of blog or else I’d be updating every single day or possibly even more. Honestly, when I blog I don’t give everyone the whole story, it’s only pieces of what’s on my mind and pieces of my day without sugarcoating my feelings.

Wicked was still awesome the second time around. To my dismay, the old cast I’ve seen in the show before had been replaced with some new ones. The performers that were cast yesterday couldn’t compare with the old ones (speaking in terms of vocal skills) but it was still just as enjoyable. Glinda, the “good” witch, was actually an understudy for our show so we didn’t get the original actress for that part which, surprisingly, wasn’t so much of a disappointment for me. After seeing Wicked again last night I definitely made up my mind to go one more time before it all ends in December. Anyone who enjoys musicals definitely needs to grab the chance to see it. I’ve even heard of guys that absolutely refuse to take interest in any type of musical fall in love with Wicked (ahem, Babe). It’s one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had and I’m very glad that my cousin shared it with me or else I would have never thought about going at all. I even purchased a souvenir mug and CD for memories :] Special thanks to my cousin Tammy and Desi! We’re going again even if it will be the 4th time for you both (my cousins have obviously been obsessed since the first time they’ve seen it).
Me, Franco, my sister, and Abel headed down to West Covina today to watch Dark Knight. The movie somehow kind of dragged on and was a little longer than I had anticipated but it was nothing unbearable. Heath Ledger was probably the only entertaining part of the movie, I was pretty surprised that he played the Joker character very well. After all, seeing him in 10 Things I Hate About You it’s kind of twist on his personality from my point of view, but he’s an actor, duh. Justin was right, Batman’s voice does kind of make you want to slap him, but what other way could he conceal his vocal identity? Overall, Dark Knight was pretty mediocre in terms of superhero movies, I’ve seen better but everyone has their own opinion. All I have left to say is: Heath Ledger made it happen.
