I’m…back?
November 27, 2009

Wow, it has been a long time since I’ve blogged on WordPress. Ever since I’ve quit my job at the veterinary clinic and started working for my dad, my days have been a constant reminder of how bland my life is. Bland, but with a higher salary. Some days I want to stab myself in the foot for having to put up with my dad and then I start thinking of how much he’s given me. Ugh, guilt.

So here I am, sitting in my trendy new Ikea desk chair (because my mom referred to my old chair as “disgusting”) in all my 22 year old glory. Did I just say that? I did in fact turn 22 years old on Monday and to be perfectly honest I don’t like the fact that I’m not 21 anymore. 21 is the perfect number, the perfect age to pause my life. I know, I’m being dramatic and 22 is still young. The fact that I’m just going to get older and older gives me indigestion. I’ll try not to think about it.

To sum up my November (or my life) here’s a list.
1. I took my first trip with Franco to San Francisco in September. I think it was the best three days of my life. Not only did I experience freedom, I actually fell in love with San Francisco. I’m going back and no one can stop me.
2. “Is there a fast forward button on life until November?” Apparently, there wasn’t. New Moon finally came out on the 19th, and it was the first movie I’ve ever waited in line for more than an hour. We’re talking five hours of cold wind and lack of sleep just to oogle a vampire and a werewolf for two hours. I usuallynever stay up past 1am, I am so proud of myself.
3. I turned 22, but we don’t need to emphasize that.
4. Most importantly, I got an iPhone! I finally switched from that god-awful T-Mobile service to AT&T and I love it. I get reception in places T-Mobile wouldn’t. My iPhone is fabulous, I’ve been nose to screen for two weeks and I still can’t get enough. “What apps to download next?” “When should I buy my next case? And what color?” “Should I buy more ringtones on iTunes?” What is wrong with me? I’ve definitely come down with the iPhone syndrome and I don’t want to be cured.

So there you have it. I didn’t do a complete summary of the past 4 months, but we’ll catch up. Hopefully, I decide to blog more and won’t completely abandon my WordPress, I’d hate to see it die just like all my other blogs. I have so much here that I can read back on and laugh about. Until next time!

radio shack
March 2, 2009

Going out Saturday was a bust. Franco got sick from eating the spicy food at Ord Noodle (my favorite restaurant in Thai Town) so we ended up going to his place to crash. He was beginning to feel better after our nap so we quickly took the chance to go out with what was left of our time. Let’s just say we walked into Best Buy and Toys ‘r Us for absolutely no reason that day. Franco’s mom was hosting a birthday party for his uncle at 6PM so we headed back home in less than an hour. On the way back,  we decided to stop at Radio Shack to get a $50 gift card for his uncle’s birthday. Radio shack, random. I know. We were out of options. Haha!

I was planning on posting a Vimeo of Riley dancing (that I shot today) but apparently, the site says I’m in still in line for the video to process and it’s going to take 110 minutes. Lame! Check back later if you want to see the little monster in action 😀

Laker flu?
February 23, 2009

For the past week, I’ve been semi-sick with a mild sore throat and an endless runny nose (again). Yesterday, I was unfortunate enough to catch the flu and it felt just awful. I couldn’t sleep the night before because my body ached and every time I breathed in, the back of my throat felt as if it were being stabbed by a knife. I can honestly tell you that I almost used up an entire roll of toilet paper just from my runny nose (and it’s still going as we speak). I wish I could use the tissue as a nostril cork without feeling like a complete doofus. Whatever works, right?

So, the past Friday me and Franco went to the Laker v. Hornets game at the Staples Center. It was my first live sporting event ever and I have to tell you that I absolutely loved it! Watching the game gave me a wave of excitement mixed in with nail-biting tense at the same time. About half the time  Franco had to explain to me the concept of each play or foul but he didn’t seem to mind. I would just look at his expression every once in a while and would be able to tell that he was really happy (and grateful) to be there at that moment. Our seats were on the floor, Row M, and behind the basket so it was the perfect view.  I enjoyed every minute of the game and I definitely am considering going back (except we won’t have to be as close next time) :]

My parents left for Thailand/Hong Kong/China this morning and they will probably be gone for 2 weeks. This means I have to drop my sister off at school every single day for 2 weeks. Augh! Kill me. On the other hand, I’ll have a little bit more freedom to go out with Franco and not worry about having to be home by a certain time. Knowing me, I’ll just end up coming home extra early anyway because I’m obviously a lazy homebody.

Valentine
February 14, 2009

Why is it whenever I’m completely broke I tend to have a “want” impulse yet, when I do have money I can’t seem to make up my mind about what to buy. After my indecisiveness in what I wanted as a gift for Valentine’s Day, Franco decided to take me on a $300 shopping spree. Holy moly!  Unfortunately my attempt of trying to find something turned out to be nearly impossible :[  A thousand stores later I finally made up my mind on what I wanted. It was a unisex circle scarf from American Apparel. rsa2502_altIt “claims” that you can wear it thirteen different ways but keeping it a regular scarf seems to look better. So, shopping at Old Town Pasadena today wasn’t a total bust;  the weather was nice (well, extremely cold but at least it was sunny) and I finally got to spend time with Franco after missing him for two long weeks. We stopped at Target on the way home to buy some gift wrap for my mom and I ended up spending $45 of my Valentine money on my sister. Her god forsaken straightener has been begging to be replaced and since I hadn’t thought of buying her a birthday gift yet, I gave in to a new straightener. “Ahhhh!!! There’s a caaar!!!” Good job on the driving Lin, you do great at 15 miles an hour, hehe.

Good news! Franco finally found some pretty good Laker tickets to buy (it was my gift to him for Valentine’s Day) so we’ll be going on Friday. Keep in mind that this will be my first time ever going to a live sporting event; the things I do for the guy I love.

Well, tomorrow I’ll be driving down to Porter Ranch for my dad’s cousin’s daughter’s birthday party (haha! that was a long thread), she’s turning 2 years old.

dry
February 11, 2009

The thought of driving to school makes me want to hurl myself off a tall building. I know that I should have already gotten use to the distance after doing so for 4 months, but clearly I have not. My allergies have been acting up for a few days already and the only time I seem to be able to breath is when I’m working out on the elliptical at the gym. Apparently, sweat and movement is the cure to clearing my sinuses. I also need to pick up a humidifier soon, the news had announced that it keeps the flu away (and the reason being is that the flu thrives in dry conditions). The real reason for needing a humidifier is because I’ve been waking up every morning with the back of my throat dry and sore. I hate the feeling. FYI: Pudge keeps secretly stealing the tissues I’m blowing my nose into and eating them. What’s up with that?!

Franco is back home from Arizona now! We’re planning on going to Downtown Disney and/or Old Town Pasadena for Valentine’s Day this weekend and I honestly can’t wait. We still have no idea what restaurant to eat at so if you have any good suggestions for a Valentine’s Day dinner, let me know!

why is it hot?
January 13, 2009

My phone rings at approximately 7:45 every morning.

F: “Good morning!”

Me: “Mmmmffgghh…..”

F: “Okay. Love you! Bye!”

And I’m back to sleep in two minutes. When you’ve been waking up to the piercing cold for the past two months you kind of get use to it. It’s easier to turn the alarm off and throw the covers back over your head, it just feels right to be under the blankets when it’s cold. Sun, please go away and come back when you’re really suppose to.

Today my sister passed her pink slip exam and is now allowed to take her permit test. Once I received the good news via text, I scheduled her an appointment for this Friday at the DMV. Pretty soon I’ll be the one in the passenger seat, napping away while she is the one who drives us to Target. I will no longer have to pick her up from her dances at 11 o’clock at night or drive 2 blocks to drop her off at Jeanelle’s house :] For the next three days I will be forcing her to study from the permit practice tests until her brain explodes.

Babysitting Riley was a little different than usual yesterday. Not only was he in a great mood but I actually heard him say “banana” in Thai and english! Riley’s first official word was “ball,” (because he loves balls. footballs, basketballs, tennis balls; you name it, he has it.) but hearing him say something other than “ball” was so awesome! I don’t know where that little monster baby harbors all of his unused energy, but considering it was only for two hours, I was literally floored dancing with him and running after him. I had so much fun last night, I’m desperately hoping he’ll be the same when I pick him up today.

Laker ticket madness
January 8, 2009

Going back to school didn’t turn out to be such a burn as I thought it would be. We took a fifteen question math quiz and I think I did pretty good for someone who didn’t even crack a book over the break. My teachers don’t have to know that, shhh! I also recieved a warning letter for missing Hospital Procedures two times (that’s the maximum number of days you can miss in one semester) without a Doctor’s note (because I called in “sick”). No worries. I won’t need any more days off because the semester is coming to an end very soon, and I can also choose to make those classes up.

Just when I thought of the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for Franco, it doesn’t work out. For a few days I’ve been searching for Laker tickets online and I finally found a pair for $357 (this includes the shipping and commission charges on StubHub.com). I purchased them without knowing that the Arizona, Tucson Jewelry show will still be going on the day that I bought the tickets for. There is no way he can miss this jewelry show so I’m a little disappointed. The seats are located in Loge 108, 6th row from the court. Bummer, I know. Luckily for us, we can resell these wonderful tickets back on StubHub.com later on tonight. So if anyone is interested in paying $350 for 2 tickets, please let me know and we can possibly meet the day before the game (because that’s the estimated shipping date of the tickets) :]

OBEY

smokey
November 16, 2008

Waking up to the smell of smoke is kind of alarming. It’s probably the reason why I woke up abnormally early today and it had to be a Sunday (a day where I should have slept in for another 2 hours). I flipped the T.V. on to channel 4 news to find that Chino Hills is also now on fire. Ugh. Since I’m awake and it’s too early for breakfast (not to mention there is a lack of it), I’ll go ahead and post some pictures of what me and my sister had seen driving home on the 60 freeway yesterday. I’m hoping everyone involved in this fire are safe, I know my family is and for that I’m thankful.
