not really goodbye
May 13, 2009

Sadly, yesterday was my last day at the Vet Clinic so I decided to make a pit stop at a bakeshop in Chino Hills called Dolcissimo to buy cupcakes for my co-workers. I still can’t believe I blew $75 on 2 dozen cupcakes. The only thing I disliked about Dolcissimo was the fact that they charged me for boxes other than one that fit 12 cupcakes. For instance, I wanted to separate 12 cupcakes into 2 boxes of 6, so they went ahead charge an extra dollar for each box. Lame. The Doctor ended up loving the cupcakes and ate two of them on the spot. He’s not allowed eat sweets in front of his wife or he’ll never hear the end of it, not surprising. Speaking of Mrs. E, I didn’t get to say goodbye to her, but I doubt she cares. Haha! Speaking of goodbyes, I’m going to miss working there. I’m going to miss seeing the frequent clients that come in every single week. I’m going to miss the smell of scrub soap and the cold sterile tray (weird, I know). I’m going to miss my co-workers of whom I’ve learned most from while I was there. I’m going to miss that fact that we’re probably the only vet clinic that doesn’t have a computer and still uses manual filing. I’m going to miss hearing Dr. Evans ask “You know what I’m sayin’?!” every 5 minutes to the most irrelevant situations. Most of all, I’m going to miss the animals. Well, they were the main the reason I loved working there in the first place. The Dr. has already let me know that I’m welcome back anytime if I ever change my mind in the future. He’s definitely an unforgettable boss. Oh! I forgot to mention that I spoke to Dr. Maas over the phone a couple of days ago and he sounded much better than usual. He’s already up and about and almost fully recovered :]

Mother’s Day was fun. We had a small BBQ at my Auntie’s house in Brea and inevitably I overate. I made the mistake of feeding Pudge some human food that day and he ended up pooping diarrhea all over my Aunt’s grass. He then scooted his butt on the grass for about half a minute, which ended in a uproar of laughter from my family watching him do so. Fun stuff.

I finally ordered my mom’s gift today on; guess what she wanted? Another darn L.A.M.B. purse.

You never really leave a place or person you love. Part of them you take with you, leaving a part of yourself behind.”

May 4, 2009

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t been blogging lately, I would type out a bunch of excuses but let’s just say I’ve been lazy. So, first things first. I’ve already given the bad news of quitting my job at the clinic and I’m currently putting in my two weeks starting today. The doctor was nice enough to say that he’ll miss me and he wished me good luck with everything. He said and I quote “You are the nicest and sweetest girl I’ve ever met. You are so respectful and your parents raised you so well,” and then he gave me a hug :[ It’s hard finding a boss like Dr. E, I’m going to miss working for him and with my co-workers. This morning I drove into work to find Dr. E’s car in the parking lot. While I was putting on my makeup in the car for about 10 minutes until Dr. E comes out and opens my car door.

“Good morning, Victoria! Did you hear about Dr. Maas?”
“No, what’s wrong?”
“He had a heart attack on Thursday.”
“Oh my gosh…”

Unfortunately, Dr. M (the one I usually work with on Mondays and Tuesdays) had a severe heart attack on Thursday while riding his bike. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery and will be in the hospital until Friday. It was shocking to hear this and also a little heart breaking. Every Monday and Tuesday, before lunch time, I would pop my head into his office with a, “See you later, Margarita!” and he would happily be eating his salad and always some form of fish for lunch (yeah, healthy dude). His only demise was his absolute love for chocolate and having me as an assistant who brought chocolate almost every week didn’t help the situation. It turns out his father and uncle had passed away due to heart attacks, sad to say that for Maas-Man, it’s hereditary. He’ll be recovering from all this until July and I’ll be gone in a week. I won’t even get to say good bye to him in person and tell him that it was an honor to work for him also, but I’ll be sure to leave him some chocolate cupcakes and a card. Please keep him in your prayers.

On the upside, me and my family are going on a cruise in beginning of June to Alaska. Well, we actually have to fly to Vancouver first and then board the cruise from there. I’m definitely not looking forward to puking on the plane ride and then going on-board a cruise only to go through sea sickness again. I’m going to need tons and tons of Dramamine. Oh daddy, why did you give me the motion sickness gene?

Oh and Mothers Day is coming up. What the heck do I get my mom? She claims to want a L.A.M.B. purse again, but we’ll see. It can never be a surprise because that woman is picky.

Uuuugghhh. I hate going to work in the middle of the day.

3 more days
December 22, 2008

I finally finished categorizing every single one of my blog entries. I know, I totally lagged on that. It seemed to me that it wasn’t entirely important so I put it off for a very long time. Sorry.

Today me and my sister woke up at 10AM (a little frustrating that it was late), got dressed and went to ChowKing at Puente Hills mall.I went a little over board with the food ordering and ended up getting way too much. I’m such a glutton when it comes to food, it’s a bad habit of mine. It only took five minutes to stop by Sanrio and pick out a gift for a little girl in our family. Nothing exciting happened after that. I went to work at 2 o’clock and saw a red envelope by my time card slot. I opened it to find an Olive Garden gift card from the Doctor and his wife. Yes! Pasta means carbs and carbs mean happy Vicky. Sometime this week I think I’ll take Franco there for his first time.

December 15, 2008

Holy crapola, it’s cold this year. It’s so cold that my body is starting to ache all over the place. Fortunately, my mother has decided to turn on the heater for a couple of hours; I have taken up a huge appreciation towards our house’s central heating system. Today I went to Downtown L.A. to babysit Riley. I had been begging my cousin to bring him since Friday and she gave in Sunday night, heh. Riley has already become more than a handful but I love it. I love every minute of chasing after him, feeding him,  seeing him dance to every song that he hears, and seeing how much progress he’s made with complaining in his baby words. Being with a baby with that much energy takes a lot of patience.

This week (and possibly the following weeks) will be a little different at work because the schedule has been changed for the holidays. My hours have probably been cut down because my co-workers most likely want more hours until New Years, but I’m not complaining :] I’ll need the extra time to shop for my Secret Santa gifts and whatnot. Ten days until Christmas, am I missing something? This year doesn’t feel like Christmas as much as the previous years we’ve had. The shopping mall parking lots aren’t as crowded, business is horrible, and most of all I’m broke. Hahaha! The Christmas Spirit probably won’t hit me until I actually start shopping for gifts, which I choose to procrastinate on because I think faster under pressure.

Well, it’s time for bed. Goodnight ya’ll.

business card
November 26, 2008

The business cards at my work are hideous so I decided to make some (on Microsoft Publisher) out of pure boredom. I’ll be posting more when I get the time to make multiple ones. FYI: I totally forgot our fax number so don’t pay any attention to that.

November 25, 2008

I can’t wait until I get my brand spankin’ new phone, it’s all I’ve been thinking about for the past few days. Well, scratch that. I’ve also been trying to find a way to see Twilight again sometime this week. I just need a partner to go with (that won’t drool over the sight of Bella. Ahem, babe.) I also haven’t taken advantage of my new privilege of being 21 years old. That means finally ordering my first alcoholic drink, and honestly, I’m pretty excited. I don’t consider turning 21 a big milestone in my life, it’s just a few more things I can legally enjoy. It’s pretty simple.

Today surgeries mostly consisted of tumor removals and neuters, nothing out of the ordinary. Tomorrow I have work for four hours and I have absolutely no plans after that. Maybe I’ll pay a visit to Downtown, LA.

“did you forget?”
November 19, 2008

I went to work and Mrs. E pointed out all the wrong things I’ve done again even if I wasn’t the one responsible for whatever it was, nothing new. My co-worker has already warned me that I’ll probably have to put up with it for as long as I work there because being there for 3 years, she still gets the same crap over and over. I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels bombarded with her ridiculous demands. Life at work would be a lot more enjoyable without the fear of going to the front desk while Mrs. E is there. Or maybe it’s just me and I’m just one big screw up, hah!

Well, I’m off to study the anatomy of a dog. I’ll blog again later or in a few (hours or days). Whichever.

tired Monday
November 17, 2008

Work wasn’t busy at all today so me and Katie sat side by side, from two to five, quietly reading “Breaking Dawn.” There were a few interruptions within the reading session but she’s almost catching up to me, why am I not surprised? This past week (while being on my rag), all I’ve  been craving is chocolate; chocolate cakes, brownies, Godiva, cupcakes, Oreo Cakesters, etc. I  definitely need to relax with the sugar before I become diabetic like my grandparents :[

Lately, my right eye has been twitching uncontrollably and I have no underlying reason why it happens so frequently. Staring at the computer for a long period of time couldn’t possibly be the reason because I had actually cut down 50% of the usage three weeks ago. Could it possibly be from lack of sleep? I thought that I’ve been getting a decent amount, but maybe I need more. Heh. I’m just so drained right now and it wasn’t even busy at work today. I probably just need some more shut eye is all. I’m off to shower so I can catch The Big Bang Theory and then get some hundred pages of reading in before bed. (Okay, maybe not a hundred but something close to it)

See ya’ll later.
